Capsule collections and mini-collabos between mega-watt designers and smaller retailers are nothing new. However, news of Karl Lagerfeld's latest collection for Macy's was definitely something to get excited about. While the announcement of this partnership flooded the blogosphere in late 2010, Macy's recently released sketches from the collection, set to launch August 31of this year.

Rumor has it, the silver-haired icon will make an appearance at Macy's in Herald Square in NYC in early September. From the looks of it, the 45-piece collection—ranging from $50 to under $200— will offer a retro-inspired take on dresses, jackets and trousers. We're sure the fashion-set will be on-deck and ready to snatch up every piece in sight. But beware, these items are said to be available at 235 stores across the U.S. (that's out of 800). Nearly 7 years ago, Lagerfeld's first collaboration (with H&M) sold out everywhere in less than a week. If you can't locate one of these select stores in your nabe don't fret. 'The Karl' is hard at work on another wallet-friendly collection to be released under his own name and available exclusively online.

Kind of makes us wonder, does Sir Karl ever sleep?
