The designs of Azzedine Alaïa was first introduced to most aspiring fashionable teens in the 1995 fashion cult classic "Clueless". A cute red Alaïa cocktail dress worn by Alicia Silverstone (in the robery scene); Silverstone is determined to maintain her fashionable look despite the danger she is facing (what a girl would do for fashion !!!).
Fast forward almost 20 years, Jones Magazine's Winter Issue covergirl, Beyoncé, styled in Alaïa's fur and leather masterpieces has us swooning and ready to swipe our black cards.
Azzedine Alaïa has always stood apart from the rest with great designs and timeless pieces; never following suit to annual demands of many designers today, premiering their couture looks bi-annually at Fashion Week around the world.
If you will be in the Netherlands anytime soon, the Groninger Museum houses the exhibit entitled Azzedine Alaϊa in the 21st century; which opened earlier this month. The exhibit showcases Alaïa's greatest creations over the past 10 years. A sequel to the exhibit that ran in the Guggenheim Soho, NY in 2000, highlights the most stylish and seductive woman, and is a true match for Queen B.
