This week, our Jones Woman of the Week is Kelly Rowland.
Kelly has sold over 27 million records as a solo artist and 60 million records with Destiny’s Child. It’s hard to believe she’s been in the spotlight for almost 2 decades since the group debuted in 1997, but it has indeed been that long.
In addition to making music history with Destiny’s Child, Kelly has also found much success as a solo artist. She’s topped the international charts on several occasions and toured in countries such as Italy, Germany, Australia and Japan, to name a few. Her 2009 collaboration “When Love Takes Over” with French DJ & producer David Guetta, became a worldwide number-one hit.
Aside from having 4 solo albums as a recording artist, Rowland is also an actress, television personality and new mother to her 1-year-old son Titan. She’s appeared on numerous TV shows and in feature films including American Dreams, Freddy Vs. Jason, The Seat Filler, The Fashion Show alongside style icon Isaac Mizrahi, and as a judge on The X Factor. Most recently, Kelly has maintained a recurring role in Fox’s hit series Empire as Lucious Lyon’s mother and also has 2 DVD workout series’ with celebrity trainer Jeanette Jenkins.
Kelly is currently working on her 5th studio album and heading up a new BET reality show titled Chasing Destiny, which will focus on finding the next superstar female group which premieres April 5th.
