Emmy-winning American Crime co-star Regina King  signed a two-year deal with ABC studios behind the acclaimed John Ridley limited series, for her production company Royal Ties. King’s sister, Reina King, will serve as development executive as the two will develop and produce new projects.

Regina King has roots in the industry since starring as an actress on 227 to working behind the scenes for television shows Pitch, Being Mary Jane, Scandal and Greenleaf, to name a few.

As a producer, she most recently executive produced and directed the 2014 documentary Story of a Village, which told the story of a school village in Sierra Leone, a country she traced her roots to, according to Indie Wire.

She has also signed on to act in the Netflix series, Seven Seconds from The Killing creator, Veena Stud and Fox 21 Studios.  These development deals should not come as a surprise as many actors are reaping the benefits from years of hard work.

In April 2016, Atlanta Black Star reported that Kerry Washington’s Simpson Street Productions signed on to create television for ABC properties for two years. Viola Davis was offered a similar deal for her company, JuVee Productions and Comedian Larry Wilmore also earned a multiyear general contract to create content for the studio.

King is a graduate of the ABC|Disney Directing Program and she is represented by ICM Partners and John Carrabino Management and Del Shaw.
