A remake of Roots is headed to television this Memorial Day.

The movie, which stars new comer Malachi Kirby as Kunta Kinte and actress Anika Noni Rose as Kizzy, will premiere over four consecutive nights starting Monday at 9:00 p.m. The eight-hour project will air on A&E, The History Channel, and Lifetime.

The project features an all-star cast in addition to Anika and Malachi, including Laurence Fishburne,Forest Whitaker, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Regé-Jean Page, Anna Paquin, Mekhi Phifer, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Matthew Goode, James Purefoy, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

The series first aired in 1977 on ABC-TV.
