The highly anticipated upcoming adaption of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is coming soon, and Netflix released the first photos. Directed by George C. Wolfe, the film stars Viola Davis and the late Chadwick Boseman.
Set in 1927 Chicago, the film is based on August Wilson’s play about Ma Rainey, “The Mother of Blues” who is played by Viola Davis, and her experience with white management. Boseman plays Levee, a trumpet player who is looking to secure his spot in the music world.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom premieres Dec. 18 on Netflix.
