ONE NIGHT ONLY: the marquee read. A show stopping, outrageous and over the top spectacle awaited fashion devotees. Marc Jacobs always ends NYFW, and utilizes the time slot to prove his show is ultimately the only one that matters. For S/S ‘16 classic Americana reigned supreme.
From the venue choice, to the color pallet, red white and blue was alive in this collection. Models walked a red carpet where throngs of adoring fans screamed and fawned over the glamorous garments. Strutting into the Ziegfeld theatre where the band played a New York Dolls classic on repeat. Sequins, Bling, elaborate fringe and clever only if you look close prints were the make up of the collection.
Nods to decades past through silhouettes, paired with details that nodded to film, Hollywood and glamour. You could envision silver screen sirens like Bette, Ava, and Jane showing up to parties and premieres in any of the dazzling body conscious gowns. While playful teen starlets would be more than at home in letterman sweaters and American flag print jeans. Wearable, yet over the top Marc made the undeniable statement that American Glamour is not dead, but alive and still kicking.
